After receiving Semmi's telegram, Akeems father King Jaffe Joffer comes to America himself to find out what the problem is. They check in at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, one of the hotels the Taxi Driver recommends Akeem and Semmi go to when they arrive in New York.
